Beginning Watercolor Class:
The objective of this class is to give the beginning student a solid foundation of watercolor as a painting medium for fun, personal expression and satisfaction.
Class to cover materials - brushes/tools, various papers, color palette, mixing colors, using the color wheel, composition, creating washes, drybrush techniques, wet-on-wet, mixed-media, special effects/tricks, painting on location or from a photo.
Students are encouraged to bring photos for painting reference purposes. The goal is to have each student become familiar with various watercolor painting styles/techniques and apply what is learned to his/her own work.
Intermediate Watercolor Class:
The objective of this 4 session class is to expand upon the techniques and training learned in the first class. Similar to an Independent Study class, students will explore advanced collage and mixed media techniques used with watercolor.
One technique taught is using non-objective style under painting of larger shapes and strokes of color then applying tissue paper with Elmer's glue and water to create a subtle and textured surface which then is over-painted to finish the painting. Students are encouraged to bring a photo or sketch for reference.
